About Us

Magnetize APIDA: Empowerment

MA:E Magazine is an interest-based publication and creative collective for and by the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) community at the University of Michigan. Founded in the Fall of 2019, MA:E began as a semester-long entrepreneurial creativity project. However, the founders soon realized that this project could address something that they felt the U of M lacked—a dedicated platform for APIDA individuals to pursue their creative interests and share their narratives.

MA:E is not just a magazine publication; it’s a contributor-driven blog, support networks and space for free creative expression all bundled into a single organization. We aim to cast the widest net possible, driven by our mission to highlight every facet of the incredible APIDA community at Michigan and represent people from all backgrounds. As a young organization, MA:E continues to grow and develop.
In the coming years, we strive to build our presence on campus in order to extend the reach of our platform to as many as possible.

Want to get involved? Here’s how.

Our Team:

MA:E’s team is dedicated to the planning and execution of the organization’s core functions. Working alongside MA:E’s Core, team members may be involved with participating in photoshoots, facilitating the content creation process, and contributing to the backend development of MA:E. Roles and responsibilities will vary across teams.

Our Community:

MA:E’s community is a space members can utilize in any manner they may choose. Whether it be through being a blog contributor, attending our events, or even just following MA:E’s activities on social media, we want to welcome you at any capacity you are interested in being involved in.
We look forward to seeing you in our MA:E family!
