Fickle Time

Time watches over the stars with a watchful, mischievous eye. With a chuckle, he lifts his wing, and a star explodes, erupting millions of surrounding debris, blinking out existence. With a heavy sigh, he lifts his other wing, and a small star is born out of a chemical reaction, setting aflame life for a whole host of new, unique organisms for the next billions of years. You would think that Time would become bored with his routine, but then you would ask yourself, does Time even possess the capability of being bored?
Time is cruel and fickle. Time is unforgiving and merciless. If Time is anything, he is bound to his word and never takes anything back. Time knows who hates him, and he hates them back with a vigor greater than the deepest, reddest flames. Time seeps into the consciousness of his opposers. He intertwines his fingers into the gray matter, squishing, and squeezing, until the pressure was too great to overcome. Time pricks, and prods, like a leech, sucking the existence out, slowly, but most certainly, surely. To make an enemy of Time is to make an enemy of existence itself.
But then there are those who are not afraid of Time. To them, Time is like the Sun and the Moon. A cycle, a push and pull, a pair of forces, that drive the day forwards, and bring forth new chances, new hopes, and new desires. By these individuals, Time is puzzled. Time always thought himself to be a clever mastermind, a wicked puppeteer, pulling strings where he pleases. Then why, for example, the once beautiful rose, now withered away, is content with its life, it lived, it flourished, and now it returns to the Earth, to make way for a new generation of creatures.
Not everyone has the strength to resist the cunning of Time. He enraptures, tempts, and overpowers. The question: will you fall into Time’s infinite trap? Or will you simply exist?
